The UC Berkeley Library is considering many changes to hours, services, and library locations. We recently surveyed Cal students about their preferences; thanks to all who participated.

The library subscribes to more than 1000 premium online information sources. To learn more about what we've added in the last month, see our list of new resources.

ADDED since last update

• ISLA Information Services Latin America: Summaries of US and British media coverage of Latin American and the Caribbean
• Social Explorer: premium (subscription) access to current and historical census data
• State Stats: government data on all 50 states
• Visionet: index to literature in optometry and vision science

DELETED since last update

• NYPL Dance Collection Catalog (no longer available)

Update: This problem has been resolved, and CalNet login is once again working.

The CalNet option is currently unavailable for OskiCat features that require logging in, such as Request and My OskiCat.

We are working with the software vendor to resolve this problem.  Meanwhile, the "Patron/PIN" login option is still available as described here.

Please note that simply searching the catalog does not require you to log in.

The UC Libraries are trying to get a better understanding of how people use Melvyl, and we need your help!

We are looking for UC Berkeley juniors, seniors, and graduate students, who would like to show us how you use the Melvyl system.  If you use Melvyl for your academic work, we're interested in speaking with you.

These sessions will take place on Thursday, April 26 in Moffitt Library.  In exchange for about an hour of your time, we'll give you a $25 gift certificate to the Cal Student Store.

The following services will be unavailable from 1 am through as late as 4 am on Saturday morning March 24, while we perform scheduled maintenance:

• OskiCat, the UC Berkeley library catalog (including searching, request, and renewal functions).
• UCB call number and availability information in Melvyl.
• Melvyl Request login and My ILL Requests.
• The library proxy server for accessing licensed electronic resources (VPN will still work).
