On the 75th anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge, we invite you to tour this online exhibit featuring materials on its design, construction, and history. Also included are materials on the other Bay Area bridges.
The Bioscience and Natural Resources Library will be closed due to construction from May 12 through June 10, 2012.
Update: The library will be open 1-5pm on June 11-15, while construction is completed.
For information on returning books, placing materials on course reserve, etc., see this blog post.
iPad users can now use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) app to access journal article databases and other licensed resources from off campus.
This is the only only way to access licensed resources through the iPad's cellular (3G or 4G) connections.
On Tuesday April 24, the library made major changes to its proxy server, used for off-campus access to journal article databases and other licensed electronic resources. These changes improve efficiency and security, and also simplify setup requirements in most cases.
Most users will see no changes, and your existing set-up should continue to work. However, the new proxy server does have new requirements related to cookies and changes to the Patron/PIN login method.
For more information, see this FAQ item:
The proxy server has changed - how and why?
Congratulations to Luciano Concheiro San Vicente, whose book collection of over 5,000 books and other items on Mexican history and identity won this year's Hill-Shumate Book Collecting Prize, awarded by the Bancroft Library. We also like his nickname: ?ratón de biblioteca? (?library mouse?).
