At 5 pm on Thursday March 20, the Library will present the third reading in the “Story Hour in the Library” series.

Daniel Mason, author of the best-selling novel The Piano Tuner, will read from his work in Doe 190, to the right of the building's north entrance.
 
Daniel Mason will read a short story, “Death of the Pugilist, or
the Famous Battle between Jacob Burke & Blindman McGraw.” Set in Regency England, the story is about a bare-knuckle fighter's final fight, and is being developed as a musical concert.

Mason lives in California, where he received a medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. His first novel, The Piano Tuner, published in 2002 and translated into 28 languages, was adapted as an opera and a play, and is currently in production as a film. In 2005 he was a Townsend Fellow at UC Berkeley. His second novel, A Far Country, was published in 2007.
