Thinking Settlement with others

Thinking Settlement with others

I'll be attending a Berkeley-based by-invitation workshop on the Google Book Search settlement proposal soon.  I'll be representing libraries and commonweal perspectives (there's another one at Columbia in March, but I am not likely to be attending that one).  There are likely to be individuals present contemplating formal responses to the court.

If anyone has suggestions for points they think I should be getting across, please let me know (aside from the passive, "It's not perfect, but its better than nothing" angle!).

Thanks!

Two issues relating to the settlement that need much more discussion than they've gotten are
1)the copyright status of images - http://blog.lib.uiowa.edu/hardinmd/2009/01/28/copyright-in-google-books-pictures-text/
2) the apparent lack of access to books in the non-US world - http://exacteditions.blogspot.com/2009/02/google-book-search-and-tragedy-of-anti.html
