An OskiCat import filter is available for EndNote users. Download the new filter as an update at the EndNote website, under the name "University of California-Berkeley Library Catalog".
A connection filter that allows you to search OskiCat from within EndNote is not currently available but is in the works. Check back soon - we will be posting more information when it is ready!
The Optical Society (OSA) announces a new paradigm for the publication
of scientific images ? Interactive Scientific Publishing (ISP). With
support from the NIH National Library of Medicine, ISP allows authors
to publish large 2-D and 3-D datasets with original source data that can
be viewed and analyzed interactively by readers. ISP provides the
software for authors to organize and publish source data while
offering viewing and analysis tools. See the ISP FAQs for
more information.

New books are available again at the Engineering Library after a brief interruption while we migrated to the new library circulation system. They will be displayed on the New Book shelf every week and can be checked out immediately (no more one-week embargo!).
If you would like to be notified whenever we receive new books in your subject area, sign up for our New Books RSS feeds.
By now you might have received your latest ACS journal issue in its new print format - rotated and compressed. Today's press release from ACS provides more explanation for the change in format.
The new print format will be used for all ACS titles except: Journal of the American Chemical Society, Chemical Reviews, and Accounts of Chemical Research. The weekly news magazine, Chemical & Engineering News, will also remain in its traditional print format.
The UCB Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Library will be cancelling the print format for the ACS journals, but maintain the online format, except for C & E News, which will continue to be acquired in both print and online.
The UC Berkeley is changing its VPN (Virtual Private Network) service. Current VPN users should download and install the new VPN client software by August 12.
The new VPN client, called AnyConnect, includes a "Library VPN" option. As before, you need to run the VPN software before accessing licensed library resources, and turn it off when your session is over. For details and installation instructions, see the UCB library VPN page .
If you are using the VPN just to access SciFinder, you might want to try the web version of SciFinder that is accessible through the library proxy server. In order to use the web version, you must both register and configure your web browser to access the library proxy server.
