A guided tour is available, which contains five sample chapters and numerous examples showing the functionality of the site.

IEEE Xplore will be unavailable on Wednesday, May 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. due to scheduled maintenance. IEEE Xplore provides access to journals, conferences, and standards published by IEEE and IET.
Science.gov is a search engine for government science information and research results. According to the website, it "provides search of more than 50 million pages of science information with just one query, and is a gateway to over 1,800 scientific Web sites and 30 deep Web databases." It allows you to search across research databases and websites from the National Agricultural Library, National Technical Information Service (NTIS), Department of Energy, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), National Library of Medicine, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), NASA, United States Geological Survey, and other federal agencies.
Recently, the Library of Congress joined the Science.gov Alliance, contributing information from its digital collections. Other recent improvements include the ability to search within results, set up alerts, and email search results.
The UC Libraries recently purchased the Journal of Fluid Mechanics Digital Archive, giving us online access all the way back to volume one of this important journal. The archive "is a repository of every single article published in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics between 1956 and 1996. It houses over a quarter of a million pages of material, reproduced as high-resolution PDFs, and is fully searchable."
Links from our article databases will soon be enabled in UC-eLinks. In the meantime, you can search and browse these earlier issues directly in the archive. Access to current issues continues to be available at the Journal of Fluid Mechanics online.
Most of the science and engineering libraries will maintain their normal hours during finals, while the Moffitt Library and Gardner Stacks will be open for a 24-hour study hall. Check the Finals hours (pdf) for more information.

The library recently obtained access to additional ebook collections on CRCnetBASE, a compilation of electronic books published by CRC Press. Through these collections, UC Berkeley faculty, staff, and students have online access to hundreds of recent books in the sciences. Subject collections on CRCnetBASE include:
» BIOSCIENCEnetBASE
» CHEMLIBnetBASE
» ENGnetBASE
» ENVIROnetBASE
» MATHnetBASE
» NEUROSCIENCEnetBASE
» NUTRITIONnetBASE
» STATSnetBASE
» PHYSICSnetBASE
» TOXICOLOGYnetBASE
» ...and more.
For Mac users: The library has also learned that Mac users using Preview have problems opening ebook PDF files from the CRCnetBASE collections. To resolve this issue, we recommend downloading and installing Adobe Reader. CRCnetBASE titles need Adobe Reader to open within the browser to work properly on both Macs and PCs. To make sure Adobe Reader opens within your browser, check the "Display PDF in browser" option within your Adobe Reader preferences.
