As part of its maps, GIS data, and analysis tools, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has made the United States Atlas of Renewable Resources available online. This web site provides users with a web-based GIS capable of generating, "maps of renewable energy resources that determine which energy technologies are viable solutions in national and international regions."
Users can map and analyze wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, and other energy resources interactively using the atlas. Additionally, data are available for download via ftp. There's also a video tutorial on the NREL site that illustrates how to use the atlas.
