One Geology: Making map data for the earth accessible

One Geology

The One Geology initiative is a consortium of geological surveys from around the world who have come together in order to create dynamic digital geological map of the Earth. The mission of One Geology is to "Make web-accessible the best available geological map data worldwide at a scale of about 1: 1 million, as a geological survey contribution to the International Year of Planet Earth."

The first prototype from the initiative is the One Geology Portal, a web-based geographic information system (GIS) that allows users to import, view, and export geological map information from the contributing surveys. Data include map information for countries, coastal areas, and the entire globe.
