The National Weather Service publishes the data it gathers about hurricanes and tropical storms on the National Hurricane Center's Archive of Hurricane Seasons web page. Through this portal, you can view and download hurricane season reports that contain comprehensive information on each tropical cyclone, including synoptic history, meteorological statistics, casualties and damages, and the post-analysis best track (six-hourly positions and intensities), with maps, from 1995 to 2007. Information for hurricanes and tropical storms from 1958-1994 is available as scanned images of the paper reports.
From the NHC site: "The NHC mission is to save lives, mitigate property loss, and improve economic efficiency by issuing the best watches, warnings, forecasts and analyses of hazardous tropical weather, and by increasing understanding of these hazards. The NHC vision is to be America's calm, clear and trusted voice in the eye of the storm and, with its partners, enable communities to be safe from tropical weather threats."
