Twitter
is a social networking and micro-blogging web application that allows
you to share small entries with friends and followers. It is a great
way for you or your organization to promote upcoming events, share
content of interest, and engage patrons. This course will introduce you
to the twitter service and include hands-on interaction with the
service.
Session coverage:
1. Signing up for an account & following other twitter users (aka Tweeple)
2. Learning twitter conventions, e.g. @THE_REAL_SHAQ, #alamw09 or #code4lib, RT
3. Twitter tools and third party services
4. Library or related industry examples

Come learn the basics of the popular online office suite We will cover
how to create, share, and edit documents & spreadsheets. We'll also
cover the following issues & features:
- Working with groups
- Revision history
- Comments
- Collaborative editing
- Forms (simple surveys or polls)
- Publishing your document/spreadsheet
- Export formats
- Privacy concerns

A gentle intro to Drupal
-- the open-sourced multi-purpose content management system. This
course will be geared to more basic aspects of using Drupal including:
- example of sites in Drupal -- special attention paid to library sites
- basic features
a quick overview of the Drupal community (drupal4lib, Berkeley Drupal User Group, drupal.org)
- creating, editing, & organizing content (hands-on)
- users & permissions
- basics of themes & modules (with a focus on the most essential & library-related modules)

Google Analytics is a fee service that tracks and provides reports on website usage. One of its strengths is that it offers a feature rich interface of many charts and aggregated statistical reports on visitor behavior on your website. However, for a novice user, this can be a bit overwhelming.
In this course, Tim Dennis will cover the basics of Google Analytics. He will walk you through creating an account and installing the snippet code on your website. He will also go over the Google Analytics terminology and the most important reports.
