Based on Susan Snyder?s popular book of the same name, Past Tents is an affectionate portrait of early camping in the West. The exhibition includes vintage camping gear, rare photographs, and first hand accounts of early wilderness and auto camping. It draws on the wealth of materials at The Bancroft Library and the California Historical Society, providing a light-hearted look at America?s infatuation with the great outdoors.
