The Journal of Modern Craft, (AH-C NK1 .J86), a peer-reviewed academic journal, covers craft in all its historical and contemporary manifestations from the mid-nineteenth-century to the present. Special emphasis is placed on studio practice and on the transformations of indigenous forms of craft activity throughout the world. The journal also reviews and analyses the relevance of craft within new media, folk art, architecture, design, contemporary art, and other fields.
Conceived as an experimental platform for new forms of criticism, May (AH-C N6495 .M39), proposes to examine matters pertaining to the field of contemporary cultural production through the publication of essays, exhibition reviews and interviews, with international contributors varying from scholars to critics, artists, writers and curators.
I am very pleased to announce a new endowment for art history, The Greil and Jenelle Marcus Endowment Fund. This bequest, generously funded by the Estate of Gerald D. Marcus, was recently distributed to the University of California Berkeley by Greil and Janelle Marcus. The endowment will help us build world-class scholarly collections in art history, supporting both current and future students and faculty. As we continue to face lean economic times, I am greatly appreciative to the Marcus family for establishing this important endowment.
